Research


Dr. Ari Hynynen is the Research Director of EDGE Laboratory for Architectural and Urban Research / School of Architecture / Tampere University of Technology. EDGE was founded in the year 2005 for organizing school’s research and for offering applied research services for the needs of professional design and planning.

In his Doctoral dissertation Dr. Hynynen studied local planning processes. His later research has pertained, for example, to spatial integration of immigrants from the standpoint of human geography, and to the interaction of technical networks and urban form. Recent activities include also regional development, which Dr. Hynynen has contributed as a researcher and a scholar. He has also established co-operative relationship with the University of Joensuu, Department of Geography, where he acts as an Adjunct Docent since October 2007.
